Eye Physicians and Surgeons of Augusta, P.C., is Augusta's only complete ophthalmic center. Conveniently located at 1330 Interstate Parkway, off Wheeler Road, just south of the Wheeler Road - I-20 interchange, the two-story building includes modern, fully-equipped examination suites for evaluation and treatment of both routine and complex eye problems.

The facility also houses the CSRA's only VISX Excimer laser. This is the laser used for laser vision correction (LASIK). The Eye Surgery Center of Augusta, located on the second floor, is a fully equipped, approved and licensed [GA License #121-167] outpatient ophthalmic surgery center.

The Eye Guys are pleased to announce the addition of a new Eye Guy, Dr. Beau Gardner. Dr. Gardner comes to us from the Ophthalmology Service at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon. He will begin seeing patients in March, 2010. We are very fortunate to have Dr. Gardner as the newest member of our team! Call now for an appointment.

Eye Guys Bid Farewell

Eye Guys, Dr. James Ace Brown and Dr. Wallace N. McLeod, Jr., announced their retirement from the practice of Ophthalmology effective January 1, 2010.

Dr. Brown and Dr. McLeod would like to thank their many patients for the privilege of serving them over the years.

All patient records will remain at Eye Physicians and Surgeons of Augusta. Dr. Brown's and Dr. McLeod's patients are invited to see any of the Eye Guys for their ongoing care.

Eye Guy, Dr. Herbert Fechter to speak at upcoming meetings.

Dr Herbert Fechter, the Eye Guys' glaucoma specialist, is scheduled to speak at several ophthalmology meetings in the coming year. March 4-7, 2010, he will be presenting Surgical Video at the American Glaucoma Society Meeting in Naples, Florida. Later that month, March 20-22, Dr. Fechter will be discussing glaucoma surgery at the Walter Reed Biennial Glaucoma Meeting in Washington, D.C.

In April, Dr. Fechter will be heading the Drugs and Laser session during the Glaucoma Subspecialty Day of the American Society of Cataract and Laser Surgery's Anterior Segment, Cataract and Refractive Surgery meeting in Boston, Massachusetts.

Finally, October 16-19, 2010, Dr. Fechter will be lecturing on glaucoma surgery at the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting in Chicago, Illinois. The Eye Guys are very fortunate to have Dr. Fechter as a member of our team!


FDA Approves CustomVue® Monovision LASIK
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved for marketing the first LASIK device designed for treating one eye to see far away objects and the other eye for close-up vision.

"The approval of the CustomVue Monovision LASIK expands permanent vision correction options for nearsighted adults who also have trouble focusing on objects close-up," said Daniel Schultz, M.D., director of FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health. "Unlike traditional LASIK, Monovision LASIK may reduce the need for reading glasses in some people over 40." To read more, click here...
